KEY #2: UNDERSTANDING

When we approach challenges from the perspective of attention, acceptance and understanding can arise.
  • Pause now, and simply notice feelings, sensations or something that is difficult for you. Let it arise, fully and completely.
  • Remember, attention itself is nonjudgmental.
  • Bring your full and open attention to whatever is difficult for you.  Attention allows challenges to exist completely, as themselves.
  • For example, from attention's perspective, sadness is just sadness, without a story about why you are sad.
  • Notice. Do you energize some feeling states, by using thought, to tell yourself (again and again, perhaps) the stories that may have generated the feelings in the first place?  Is that helpful?  Would you like to learn a new way to deal with challenges?
