We all have a clear Light of sorts, that can shine in any direction. It's our Attention.
Many people experience attention, however, in partial bursts and attend in a narrow and stress inducing mode. We check our calendars, scanning for the next event, decide to plan for a meeting at work, dinner at home, or an event with a child and then a "beep" arrives, signaling a new message. We're interrupted and disrupted and can feel like we're under siege, in our 24/7/365 culture of personal and professional demands, social media, internet and email. If you've been introduced to a mindfulness practice, it may just feel like that's one more thing to do. "Now I'm supposed to 'be in the moment' too," you might think to yourself. We can be either on the offensive striving to stand out and be noticed (or hoping not to be), or defending ourselves against negativity and fear. Sometimes the end result is that we erupt, reacting to a situation that really calls for a response.
The intensity of a narrow, time urgent focus can create challenges in all areas of our lives: health, family, relationships, work and the ways in which we show up in our communities. And it diminishes our ability to experience the innate peace, beauty and effortlessness that informs life's flow.
What's the alternative?
At Undefended Heart, you're invited to change how you pay attention and to what you attend.
From a stress inducing focus, our sympathetic nervous systems (fight/flight/freeze/surrender) are over engaged. The stress hormone cortisol floods our bodies. Our human to human connections are impacted and we can disengage from one another rather than relate from our inherent wholeness.
Notice that attention or awareness is always here. It just is. It's being. It may be that attention is stuck on the thoughts in your mind, your emotional state, your sensations, or a positive or negative image of yourself that you're holding and defending. But it's simply not possible, however, for attention and awareness not to be here. Now. Always.
We invite you to consider how you're paying attention and we'll show you how to both open your field of attention and re-train your brain. As your brain and attention habits change, so will your life. You may find that you cherish and enjoy your own humanness such that you feel lighter, more peaceful and powerfully connected to yourself, others and the world.
We all have a clear Light of sorts, that can shine in any direction. It's our Attention or Awareness. That light is undivided. It holds and permeates all that we can see and experience in ourselves and throughout the world. Undefended Heart is dedicated to bringing the wholeness of Attention or Awareness to our inner divisions and to the parts of our world that call out for change, in order to foster a just, sustainable and peaceful planet.
